Trail Description:
Trail begins with a long steep climb on a logging road. (But you can shuttle up). When you reach the top, the decent consists of log runs, nine foot drops, elevated sections, rock drop offs, whoops, rolling drop-ins, doubles, step downs, teeter-totters, and huge burms. This ride is like a roller coaster, a roller coaster ride from hell!!!!!

The ride is for advanced riders only and the trail is marked with black diamonds. If you cannot handle the really advanced stuff, you can follow the little yellow dots down the hill. If you have to follow every yellow dot on the trail.... go ride somewhere else!

How to get there:
From "Cle Elum Bike and Hike", 407 East 1st Street, Cle Elum WA. Travel west and take a right on Bullitt St., go left on 2nd St. Go aprox, 2 miles west and take a right on Shaft St. (across from High School). Take very next right, travel up to the top of the hill (always travel up hill), Take a left at the top of the hill (at a T in the road). A half a mile up you will run into a yellow gate - Travel up (it seems like forever). The road will Y, so stay right. Take a big breath because this is your last climb, we call it "The Wall". At the top of this climb the road will T, take a left and keep going up. You will pass a trail on the right, then go another 1/8 of a mile until you see red ribbons on a stump. Walk through a select cut (almost a clear cut) area following red ribbons to the highest point on the right. You have found the beginning of the trail. Good luck and don't kill yourself!

Additional Notes:
Wear a Helmet!

Just wanted to post a little more recent update than '08. My bud showed me this trail a few weeks ago and it is in great shape! I am an intermediate rider and had no issues getting down, although i skipped the big stuff. We missed the upper part of the trail but the lower part was super fun. There is some sick stuff for better riders too

so as of the summer of 2008 this trail is still great. The trail has been remade sort of. It now has much more stable elevated section. i think close to 150ft of total elevated section. You have to park at the cle elum high school cross the street. i think there are good direction on here. what is described on this site is lower ratpak there also is a upper ratpak but it was logged i think i found it once but im not sure. The maker just finished and is taking a break for riding and making a dirt jumping course in downtown cle elum. anyway great trail

i used to be a local and helped build this trail from the beginning with Mike and the woodwards. its too bad it got destroyed. i have been riding a lot up in idaho, utah, and wyoming, and california. some of the best riding was in washington. do whatever you can to preserve it. the trail was one of the best i had ever ridden.

Rat Pac is still there, but changing again.... the trail building group is supposed to start rebuilding soon. I just make the food (cookies, soup, sandwiches)for everyone who helps! Watch out for bee's nests and landowners... :-) Karen

This trail rocks as is but could be much better. I will be going up and making some improvements myself to the trail and i encourage others to do the same. Lets make this ride fun again!!

The trail description needs to be rewritten. Although this is a downhill oriented trail all the stunts can be ridden around and the line taken as a bomber DH is stellar. The stunts are rickety and need to be rebuilt, which I understand is the plan. Don't let the ride description of doom and woe scare you off, just come and check it out. Enjoy.
