Trail Description:
Kennison Mountain Trail is a lightly used but fun ride. If you're an advanced rider looking to practice those technical skills, this is a good place. The ride cosists of rocky singletrack, mud and some tough downhill sections.

How to get there:
20 min. east of Richwood on US RT 55 in Monengalia National Forest. Turn onto Dogway road, stop at the gate. Park here and ride Frosty Gap trail about 1/2 mile to Kennison Mtn. Trail.

You don't have to be an expert rider for the short loop, just be ready to practice some skills. Drive up Dogway Road (Fire road) just over the top of Kennison Mtn. from the Cranberry Vistors Center. Park at the gate at the top. Take Frosty Gap Trail for nearly a mile, then go left on Kennison Mtn. Trail. Here's where it gets fun. Some rocky, rooty technical sections but separated by several long beautiful sections and a few long boardwalks. I think the entire loop is about 8 to 10 miles. Follow Kennison Mtn. Trail till you come out on an old grassy fire road. Go left and follow this fun, fast fire road down to Dogway road ("T" intersection with nice smooth gravel road). Go left on Dogway and make a steady climb back to your vehicle. Note: My son has been riding this trail since he was 7 (now 13 and still loves it).

This is an awesome trail, most of it covers a ridge top and there is plenty of rocks and roots to test your technical skills. If you are in this area and only have time to ride one trail, make it this one!
