Trail Description:
initial uphill climb from San Mateo on concrete road, elevation gain 1500 feet; continue going uphill on rough doubletrack; downhills on rough doubltrack and singletrack, interspersed with some flat singletrack; river crossings; hike a bike portions

How to get there:
The trailhead is in San Mateo's Mt.Maarat. From the Marikina-San Mateo road, make a left at San Mateo market and head for the mountains. Leave car at foot of concrete road or near the entrance of the memorial park. Go uphill on concrete until you hit dirt. Continue uphill until you hit the other concrete portion on Araneta property. There is a rough doubltrack road on the left that goes downhill. Before proceeding, look over the horizon for the 3rd power transmission tower. That is where you should be heading, beyond that is Wawa Dam. If there are people, ask for directions to Wawa Dam. Do not proceed if not sure of directions, lots of trails to get lost to. The trip to Wawa averages 5 hours on a good day.

It was an excellent trail . . . have used it last year. Problem was, when I returend there last Sunday, the trail was already closed (by the landowners).

Great all-around trail ride with long and sweeping downhills that reward the long climb and a couple of river crossings to cool you off!
