Trail Description:
Anderson may be done as an out and back, loop, or shuttle. For the out and back and the loop, park under the I-8 overpass on Puetz Valley Rd. Out and back: ride north on Puetz Valley Rd. 1 mile to single track trail head. Trail climbs steadily for about 4 miles and connects with rutted fire road that drops in from Alpine. For loop: ride the paved Alpine Blvd. 5-6 miles to and through the town of Alpine to East Victoria Rd. Turn north (left) onto East Victoria (steep uphill) to Anderson Rd. Ride past an old water tank and several ranches. The road becomes more eroded the farther you go until you hook up with the single track back to Puetz Valley Rd.
How to get there:
From San Diego, travel east on I-8 to Harbison Canyon Dunbar Lane exit. You'll be on Alpine Blvd. at bottom of the exit. Continue east on Alpine Blvd. 1 mile to Puetz Valley Rd.
Additional Notes:
Anderson Truck Trail is an excellent all weather trail in that it is primarily decomposed granite (s

Where do you park and catch the top of the trail to shuttle it down hill?

My husband and I are residents on Peutz Valley Rd and we'd like to make a request. Some bicyclists park at the beginning of our no-outlet road to ride Anderson Truck Trail and they leave all kinds of trash. It would be great if they could take their trash with them. Some of our neighbors are trying to sell their homes and it looks like a bad neighborhood as a result of all of the litter. One of our neighbors has been trying to clean up after them for more than 4 years now and it's just not fair. I think she's finally given up because the area looks terrible. I'm going to go out later today and clean some of it up but we would all really appreciate it if the offenders took care of it themselves.
Thanks!

Just don't forget to be respectful of the Peutz Valley residents. IE: riding up the middle of the lane on blind corners, leaving your car doors open and all your crap out in the middle of the road. It is still a road...for cars, you know...

Ummm- spin machine- you are the only kook out there. It doesn't matter if people find out about it and go ride there. it's kooks like yourself locking up on the brakes and going around the hard stuff.

Pretty funny how you post complete directions and tips on how to get to a spot but then say don't go telling everybody. Sounds like the trail was "kook free" until you found it.

Okay, here is an update. This trail has been prett kook-free so don't go telling everyone.
You do not have to pass the private property to get to the main trail. Park under the 8 and bike up the main road for exactly 1 mile. Once you see a 1 mile sign on the right hand side, you should see a trail beginning on the left side of the road- It's a short uphill, go down (not too fast) and look out for a sharp right. You should end up near the big steel wall but this route will bypass the wall completely. Now, you are on the ATT. For advanced riders, I recommend climbing up to the top of World Cup or Eco-Challenge. If you climb all the way up to the flat "four corners" point on top of ATT, basically you keep climbing up for another 35-60 minutes. This is very challenging single track, tons of drops and jumps- it's worth the extra climb. Much of the truck trail is rutted and needs work in some spots. Since none of the Mt. Bike assocations touch this place, I encourag

If you think a beginner can clean every section of the trail, you went down the wrong section. **NOTE** At the bottom of the trail the fire road is blocked with a steel wall and old cars. Some crazy old guy who lives at the bottom decided he doesn't want anyone to ride on this public road. This is still public property. Please, if you do this ride, stick to the original fire road and don't let him discourage you.

I was almost up that hill today on Victoria after some searching, the Alpine bike shop no longer exists. My first ride back in like 8 years. Directions could be better. Take 8E out of san diego toward el centro for 28 mi to Alpine, (when you get around el cajon you will see Alpine is 12mi continuing east), exit is Alpine Tavern Road, right off ramp, left at the light onto Alpine Blvd, approx 1.5 miles left on Victoria for a hella hill then instruc ok.

Fun ride. the skill rating system here is out of wack, no way is this an advanced ride. Too short and there is no section that can't be cleaned by a beginner on the way down or a average slow rider on the way up.
