This trail is obliterated...its mainly all timber road now and all clay. The rain made it a mess...kinda fun but still a mess.

Trail has been destroyed by logging. Found a loop directly off the parking lot but that too had been dissected by tree cutters. The loop off Hwy9 has been wiped out. On that day I ran across a ranger who was starting brush fires so the landscape will be a muddy wasteland soon. I drove to Iron legs trail down the road and made the circuit after searching for the trailhead. Trail wasn't in the best shape but was still fairly enjoyable after the disappointment at Gene's loop. Good luck all.

above directions from I20 should end with parking lot on right after turning left on Joseph Springs Road.

Directions to trail totally poor.
Try these instead:
From Anniston go over 10th street mountain on Henry Road.
Turn left on Choccolocco.
Go about 10 miles and look for Joseph Springs Road after passing Pine Hills Golf Course. Turn right on Josephs Spring - about a mile look for dirt road leading to parking lot on left.
From I20 - Go North on route 9 10 or so miles - look for management area signs.
Turn left on Joseph Springs Road - look for dirt road leading to parking lot on left
