Trail Description:
Awsome single track, but you have to climb on the hiway for about five miles. The trail has been published in numerous magazines, can not believe that it is not here. Once you get to the sumit, look to your left, you will see the trail-head sign, enjoy, as you climb on all single track till the summit, then enjoy the downhill, awesome. When you come back to the bottom, follow to dirt road, then take a left on gravel. This will take you back to your car.

How to get there:
Take hiway 50 to Lake Tahoe. When you get past the CHP check-point, to you left is a Shell gas station, park. Across from the check-point is the hiway you need to climb, enjoy it, and the rest is fun.

Additional Notes:
If you are insure, ask any bike shop in town, they might even have maps.

One of the best technical downhill trails in the area, but access is difficult if you're riding a DH bike. You do not have to ride up toads. Follow the advice of the other post and ride up Oneidas and take the singletrack to the TRT and follow the rim to Toads.

You do not have to climb on the highway to get to Toads... There is a much better route (more beautiful, no cars). Ride to the top of Oneidas... At the top take the Armstrong Pass trail to Rim trail... Right on Rim Trail until your first junction (Toads). Make a right... (Lower your seat first!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Uphill is brutal, but I am weak at climbing so maybe you will like it. It is single track as you climb with big rocks, switchbacks and tree roots. This made it hard for me to get climbing momentum which ended up with lots of pushing and carrying my bike. downhill is unbelievable! single track with banked turns, rocky technical sections and tons of other challenging stuff. Lots of loose dirt so stay in the middle of the trail. i hit the dirt at least 4 times and consider myself to be a pretty good downhill rider. the loose dirt killed me but it was great.

I rode toad's for the first time a couple months ago. It is a blast. We parked at the trailhead and I climbed in on my 45 pound Bullit, about an hour 15 to the downhill part. Lots of fun, fast in parts, technical, steep rock gardens. Simply a rippen trail. I wish it had some hits on it but it was still fun. I didn't see anyone out there when we went. It was nice and quiet. As a Tahoe local who knows the trails I can honestly say this is one of the top 5 trails in the basin. I also want to check out Jackie Chans off of Kingsbury Grade, I hear this one is sweet.

Punishing uphill but I am a poor climber. Lots of rocks and technical type stuff. Downhill is awesome and worth the grueling climb! It's like a rollercoaster. Lots of loose dirt/sand on sides of single track and on banked turns. Be careful, if you go too fast and start to drift to outside of turns you can crash very easily. Like I did! A number of times!

Brutal climb, great downhill... the trail needs rehab in a few spots but for the most part is a blast!
