I'm delighted that MV hosts a Readers Festival each year and iclundes some some well-known authors. However, the picture of Linda Evans assets that has been plastered all over Mission Viejo has no place in our excellent city. Just because Ms. Evans feels it necessary to appeal to the lowest common denominator to sell her book doesn't mean that the City of MV has to be a willing accomplice.

Biked this trail in the spring of 2012- the mtb
trail, the outer loop, is about a 16 mile loop
(there are other trails and loops for hiking and
skiing)- trail is easy to follow. the trail itself is
single track with some good climbs and fast
descents. first time there so we didn't go "all
out" - still lots of leaves on the trail plus a
dusting of wet snow. All in all a great trail
giving us a good workout - nothing technical
just as fast as you want to go.

Very well marked, somthing for everyone. The Taramount is a challange and a half. It was well worth the 4 hour trip to the trail. It is actually only about 10 min from Wellston and would reccomend staying there if you are marking a weekend trip. Trail was very well kept and organized. AWSOME FIND!!

My son and I rode the Big M this summer. It was a blast!! Being from Austin I am use to more technical rides but these trails provided all kinds of different challenges. There is something for everyone. It was quite a find.

It ‘rocks’ when you enjoy a good trail.
Say, have you checked out the Trail Advocacy link just on the left listed under the Trail Guides heading? Please remember it’s only as good as the effort that’s put into making it that way and it can disappear tomorrow. Please do your part. Thanks

Overall great system with something for everyone. Avoid the trails to the far right (north & east?) from trail head as they go through a burnt-out area of forest and are totally overgrown. Be aware that some intersections do have signs posted with trail maps, and some do not. Great weekend trip destination.

The Big M was expanded in recent years and now has an "outer loop" trail system in addition to the standard Big M trails. Big M is great riding but some of the outer loop trails are the icing on the cake. One of the best things about the outer loop is that it has connected the Big M trail system with a great section of North Country Trail that runs from M55 to the Little Manistee River at 9 Mile Bridge. This section of NCT is only about 5 miles long which a bit short for a trip out there. However, when you combine it with the outer loop trails as well as Big M you have enough killer riding to keep even the biggest gear head stoked for a three day weekend. There are a couple of outer loop trails that really stink because they are flat and boring. However, you never have to ride those trails and if you stick to the hilly sections you will have a ball. There is a lot more trail info at www.honoredstudents.org/bbudell. It is a site devoted entirely to the Udell Trail System.
