IT IS ILLEGAL TO Mt. Bike at Splitrock Res. Rockaway Township wants access to splitrock closed. If things go the way the township wants Rockaway police will be able to AND WILL issue summons' for trespassing. As far as word goes there will be NO WARNINGS as per the mayor. The best thing to do is to KEEP OUT OF SPLITROCK for now until this issue cools down. If you do decide to continue riding there please park in the designated areas-park illegally and you may be blocking access for rescue vechicles-which YOU may need. If Rockaway Township gets their way Splitrock Res. will be closed. You will be arrested for trespassing and have to appear in court in Jersey City NOT Rockaway. IF YOU ABUSE SPLITROCK IT WILL BE GONE. Jersey City and The DEP are also getting tired of dealing with this issue.

Nice area but unfortunately bikes are banned from this area. Ride at your own risk. It is patrolled.

The beauty of Split Rock (actually the Farny Highlands) is that it is what you make it. You can ride from Rt. 80 to Rt. 23 and cross one road. Meet at Wildcat Ridge Sun 7:30 for the real deal. Find it.

Those directions are completely wrong.. I grew up about .5 miles from Split Rock. Rt 80 to exit 37 (either direction) and turn left from the exit onto Greenpond Road. Go (4-5?) a few miles up the hill and make a right on Split rock road. Make the last left before the No Outlet / Dead end sign. You'll see signs. Hillside rd in Denville is a long, one lane road up a mountain, great view, but there are only houses up there, and it's a huge pain in the ass to navigate. Kind of funny to post that as the directions, but also pretty mean.
