Trail Description:
The trail is quite extensive as it runs from north ogden all along the east bench to south ogden. there is a number of ways to ride the trial, the way me and my chrome partners like to ride it is to start at rainbow gardens and head south. the trail is a great mixture of up and down, with some exposer. not a technical trail but a blast to ride. start at the trail head in back of rainbow gardens, and start a pretty good climb. once you get to the first leveling off place you will be faced with your first decision, take the face shot or up through the trees. the face shot will test your climbing legs and lungs, good one. if you want to take the face shot stay left on the single track, if you wish to go on a more gradual climb stay to the right and head for the trees. winds through a lot of scrub oak trees, nice to get out of the heat in the summer, the both end up at the same place, and old jeep road. go west on the old jeep road, for about 50 yards, you will then see a single track head off to the east, take it. follw this trail up to the first of many trail markers. the marker will tell you to either go east again along the indian trail or head south on the bonnivelle trail. the indian trail is closed to bikes...and stay off it. we have a great relationship with the hikers in the area and dont want to ruin it. so go south. the trail has many spurs and connectors, we stay on the high trail all the way to strongs canyon. dont get confused and head up one of the canyons, there is some great riding, but is is pretty extreme and for advacned riders. follw the trail along the old shoreline...you see this trail follows the old bonneville lake shore line, that filled the valley thousands of years ago. follow it to strongs canyon, then head down strongs, fun, rocky ride. follow the single track and it will eventually take you into a neighborhood. this is the only part that sucks..road ride for about a half mile. the road will take you back to the trail head above weber state university. remember all the climbing you did to get here...it mostly down hill back to rainbow gardens. carefull though as this trail gets a lot of use, espcially on weekends.

the second part of this trail is what we call the north arm...the trail does not yet make it to rainbow gardens..or ogden canyon, so you have to head north on harrsion blvd. go to second street, stay on harrison, but start watching for a catholic church on the west side of the road. you will see it as you start up a small hill just past second street. now start looking on the east side of the road for a small parking lot with a trail head..its not marked. unload, jump on the trail and head north..great sections, a little more techinical than the south side, but a great cross country ride...

How to get there:
from i-15 take the 12 street exit. follow 12 to the mouth of ogden canyon. on the south side of the mouth of ogden canyon you will see rainbow gardens. park behind the gardens.

This trail gets improved every year. Elevation gain (via my altimeter watch) is slightly more than 1000 ft. It is now possible to ride all the way to Beus canyon although if you want to avoid another 1000ft climb back up and over, you have to ride through the suburbs. Do the ride back up and over, it'll give you a chance to look for a bobsled type downhill that a blast. Lots of single track, but watch out around the golf course. If your on a chip bark trail, your on the hiking trail, so get off it.
