Corderilla del Cielo Grande (big sky ridge ride)

Trail Description:
Leaving Antigua a dirt road climbs long and hard past teh famous Cerro de la Cruz (hill of the cross) overlookig Antigua. the raod continues some 2.5 miles to mountain side pueblo of El Hato before going steep and rocky. Another couple of miles of climbing bring us to the top of the highest ridges arouns where the trail ducks between a few adobe house and vanishes in to the old growth. Tight and technical rolling singletrack winds high above the Antuguan Valley yeilds amazing views. No neewd to worry about other mtn bikers up here, but be curtious to the locals and their burros. The singloe track shoots out of the old growth and begins bombing back down tothe valley floor through milpa (corn fields) and coffee plantations. Absolutely Brilliant riding!

How to get there:
Head north out of Antigua towards the famous hill f the cross where you'll find the dirt road that climbs out the back side of teh valley.

What a cool ride, right out of the valley 2000ft up the top of the ridge. And single track all the way back down

I found matt at old town outfitters in antigua and he showed me the way. The riding In Guatemala is amazing!! A must do on any trip to Guatemala
