Trail Description:
Some sand but mostly loam and packed dirt. Very technical in areas, some high speed singletrack on the southbound
How to get there:
Go West from Big Rapids, Mi on M-20 to the Norwich Town Hall building and turn north. go north 1/2 mile and turn right at the Hungerford Lake sign. Parking for mountain biking is on the left at the end of the pavement. Trail maps are at the trailhead. Best riden in a clock-wise direction.
Additional Notes:
Horse trails are completely separate from the single track.

Jason posted that its hard to get lost and yet I got lost in the first mile and half. One fork took me straight into the horse camp, the other took me across the road, up a hill to the horse trail. can't rate it well cause i had barely started. someone tell me what i did wrong

This trail has gotten a lot better thanks to help from MMBA members. The trail is now almost entirely seperated from the horse trails, and CLEARLY labeled as a biking trail. Arrows also point out directions at interesctions so it's hard to get lost. Very good visibility and the trail is very wide for the majority of its length. Trail can be ridden either direction. Long climb near the trailhead (very fast downhill in reverse direction) and some sandy sections, but otherwise there are not the super-challenging sections like other trails that pose a big ordeal for beginners. Hungerford sees relatively little traffic and has a very 'rustic' feel and groundcover unlike the well-used trails of southwest and southeast michigan.

Trail could be a lot better... They are soft and some parts are shared with horses. Could be a great trail but they just aren't packed enough for speed and the trail is pooooorrrly marked... The trail is very woodsy though... Never see any other bikers out there.

Plenty of trails, its very fun and much to choose from. It might be a little tricky if its your first time on trails there because its crosses over many different kinds of trials for horses and other 2 tracks. Just pay attention to the markings and you should have no problem. Im back there a lot as well as plenty of other riders so it is pretty well mantained. I would recomend to anyone level but some spots get pretty technical. Hope to see ya out there.

Great trail, seemed very remote at times. No other cyclists on trail Memorial Day 05...perhaps due to large amounts of horse droppings on bike trails. I guess the horses can't read signs. There are over 20 miles of horse trails in the area, but they apparently use the bike trail for their bathroom.
