Trail Description:
Lake Redman has an abundance of trails for different levels of riders and 3 different loops make it easy to change your ride and distance. Loop 1 is the most technical, with a nasty uphill but a long descent along the lake makes it very worth the effort. Loop 4/2 is a bit easier, but pretty technical for southern PA. Loop 3 is the easiest and can be bypassed depending on where you start.

How to get there:
Off of I-83, turn west off Leader Heights Rd (exit 14). Turn South on George St. One trail head is 1 mile south or turn into Kain Park Boat Lauch area 2 miles south. Road is marked by a sign.

I forget the total mileage on the loop, but it's a good ride for a few hours. Before you leave the area, head south on George Street (may also be called Susquehanna Trail) past Jacobus, past the intersection near the State Police barracks and the 83 connect, and then watch on your right for a small sign that says "Carmen's Ice Cream". This is seriously the best ice cream on the planet, and a worthy reward for a good ride. Live long and Prosper

My postings are all out of order, but I'm sure you can figure it out, you're smart, right? :)

This is where I began riding. The William Kain County Park and Lake Redman are almost a second home to me. Like the reply above mine states, there are three more trails than indicated in the summary. Trail five we call the "Goat Trail", it's really not all that hard, but it is a fun, technical trail. The best ride here is the full infinity symbol (see the trail map). I park off of George Street right by the Lake Redman dam. I'll start with the trail 2/4 loop, maybe taking a quick stop at the dock where trail 4 starts for a refresher. After trail 4, I'm up the street from the parking lot so I can hit my car up if I need to for any quick fixes, necessary cell-phone calls, or, lunch (there's a short trail to a pavillion on the hill right beside the parking lot). After the first loop. Get over to trail 1 across the street and along the dam. Take the left up trail one for a nice ascent with a lot of switchbacks or take the right and hit a freaggin' awes

i found out about the construction this weekend. i haven't rode there in a while. i came down a trail out of the woods and ended up in some back yards that weren't there before. it is still a good place to ride.

I've been riding in Central Pa (Pumping Station, Blue Marsh, Gretna) for 20 plus years and have been to Mnt. Tam, Downieville, the Flume Trail, and other places of significant interest. The trails at Lake Redmond are as challenging as any I have been on. Not hte same, mind you, but challenging. A wonderful mix of some technical sections with slope cut highland trails and killer climbs. Additonally, the facility is wonderfully managed with appropriate wet condition related trail closures. It's a biker friendly place. Please treat it and those you encounter with respect. The "tunnels" under 83 on trails 5 and 7 are a bit daunting.

I love Redman/Williams. There are now far more trails to ride than the description indicates. Trail 7 (relatively new) connects T1 to T6 and involves a very challenging ascent. T6 connects to T5 which brings you back to the boat docks and T3. The only drawback is the increasing construction around the park, so some of my old routes have been cut off and the scenery is not as good. The trails still rock, though. See the trail map here: http://www.york-county.org/gov/Parks/2001WHK.pdf
