Hashawa Center

Trail Description:
So many trails here it is hard to describe them all. The "main" trail is relatively flat and covers a good portion of the park. Countless smaller and more technical (read:faster, steeper, and therefore much more entertaining) trails crisscross the entire property and go on for miles in countless directions. Stream crossings average 1' depth, but after storms can get pretty deep with brisk current. The grass trails are wide enough for three bikes at times, but the woods trails are single file tire-to-tire style with STEEP climbs and rushing downhills. Look out for groundhog holes and roots on the serious trails. It is a wildlife refuge, so leave the fast food wrappers at home and be prepared to see (and/or dodge) a pretty wide variety of wildlife.

How to get there:
Take MD. 97 north past Westminster and take the right at John Owings Rd. Make the left at the main park entrance and park in the small gravel lot close to the pavilion and pond on the left hand side. If you hit the main visitors center you went too far.

trails in MD, not MA. great system of singletrack and rollers between union mills and hashawa plenty of hills, logs and a few stream crossings.
