Trail Description:
Some of the best singletrack around. It gets technical, so bring your dualie. There a lot of sections that are a freerider's dream (or nightmare). Most of the stuff is in the forest where it gets really rocky and rooty.
How to get there:
Take the 417 west exit on March road keep going until you get to Terry Fox drive. Take a left, keep going until you get to the stop sign and see the dirt road. Keep going up the dirt road until you see a parking lot on your left. Voila!
Additional Notes:
Lot's of great looking female riders! Not to be missed!

Outback is still intact and is a great 1-2hr advanced technical single track loop. I highly recommend this trail system!!!!

Although once a formidable mountain biking location with a variety of trails for everyone, Kanata Lakes has largely been disected by new in-roads and subdivisions of cookie-cutter style homes. Most of the original loops are fragmented. The area south of the train tracks is somewhat intact, but is rapidly shrinking. The beaver ponds/outback sections are gone. Do not waste your time checking out what is left, you'll be disappointed. Also, recent clearings have led to a bumper crop of poison ivy along the forest margins.

Great trails; some really technical sections and some cool rock formations. However, bloody development is erroding the trails rapidly. Suburbia is eating up one of the finest trail networks within a reasonable distance from Ottawa.

Awesome trails. Some easy curvy forest trails and great technical rocky hilly trails too. And yes I donated some blood too...So if you're postal code starts with K2 you have no excuse / unmissable.

While on a hike through the area today, August 31, 2004, I encountered a mother black bear with two cubs... very close encounter. Lucky they all took off instead of sticking around for a fight.
Two hours later, another bear went crashing through the bush.
After 15 years of hiking in this area, these are the first bears that I have seen.
Please be careful.

Best trail I have ridden is Outback. Thanks to Eric and Scott in Kanata for the hard hours spent on this excellent trail. Lots of challenging climbs, rock faces and some drops (one of them is over 10feet - just off the ridge). Some good stuff to be had on Outback. My best time so far on it is 38 minutes. I've heard people doing it in 30 minutes. That;s just outback, add another hour for the other stuff around it (the loop).
I haven't been on the dark side in a while, but I must try it again. Some challenging stuff and a hoot.
Hopefully all our fighting with the city of Ottawa can protect this last piece of forest. But, the builders they come soon.
