Trail Description:
This is a great place. Loads, and loads of barely used singletrack and lots of stuff for you weird trial people to trick off of. Also, there are plenty of places to make new trails. Very fast, but climbs are burning, technical. If chose road to top (Brimstone Lane) is a burner of a climb. Not to shabby.
How to get there:
Off Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, take Edgell Road for about 2.5 miles. Entry is about 450 yards past scout camp on right. Also, off Rt. 20, take Brimstone Lane. Entry at top. Parking lot at bottom and at top for those who just can't figure out what a bike is truly made for.

Very nice trails, didint see anyone using them so, youll have them to yourself if you choose to go, the land in the guide is NOT part of the boy scout reservation, as i have camped there with my troop before. I dont know what the camp director is thinking, he is clearly either misled or thinking of something different. Just be careful not to stray onto the knox trail council land, and youll be fine.

These trails are currently open to mountain biking - however- too many bikes will get them closed very quickly if their is ecological damage. If you decide to try it, you must stay ont he trails. The Commenter who suggested making your own trails should know that is not permitted and is a good way to get mountian bikes vbanned from the area. Please stay on trails, walk bikes through wet areas, and do no ecological dmage.

Even the Sudbury Town Conservation Commission website lists the scout reservation's private land as mountain bike permissible. In fact, it has a link to the Knox website. See icon keys in this town conservation website link www.sudbury.ma.us/services/conservation/custom/conservation.asp
Further, the land abutting the Knox land to the south is a segment of Callahan State Park, a DEM owned property where mountain biking is ALSO permitted. In addition there are a number of other websites that state that mountain biking is allowed in the Nobscot area, and even one that states permission has been granted by the Knox Council to ride on their private property. Perhaps this is incorrect; however, to state that the trails described herein are not legal to ride on is incorrect. Further, seeking police intervention may prove to have legal ramifications, especially if one is riding on legal conservation area and entered such area from a town designated access point. Legal access point

While a large portion of the Nobscot area is owned by the Knox Trail Council (Boy Scouts of America), there is a tract of land abutting this that is owned by the Town of Sudbury Conservation Commission, whom I visited with recently. The Nobscot area conservation land is legal to mountain bike on and, in fact, is detailed in the town's website as such, specifically stating that mountain biking IS allowed, see the following link: www.http://home.att.net/~sudbury.concom/conserva.htm#NOBSCOT
Further, a map details the area: http://home.att.net/~sudbury.concom/maps/Nobscot.PDF
The Knox Trail Council's land has frontage along Rt. 20, so parking at or near the boy scout camp (at the gated area on Rt. 20 -- Nobscot Road) would not be permissible since access to the area would cross the Knox land. It should also be noted that the Knox Council's own website welcomes visitors (but does prohibit bicycling on their property); however, the Sudbury Town Conservation Commission web

Illicit Ride!
The trails described in this listing are on the Nobscot Scout Reservation, which is privately owned and operated by the Knox Trail Council, BSA, and are NOT and never have been open to any form of mechanized conveyance, including bicycles. DO NOT consider this ride. If you do, your license plate numbers will be taken and the police summoned.

A good trail if you want to do some downhill and get a good climb to the top too. For those that ride dh, go up the road on the back. It is off of route 20 very close to the intersection of route 20 and peakham road. Its a tough climb even on pavement. At the top, there is a firetower, and 3 or 4 different routes down. These arent named and there are a lot of trails, so if you get lost, keep heading in one direction. Eventually you will come to either Edgell Road or Route 20 again. At the bottom, there is a scout reservation. I usually dont see more than a few people on the trails at any given time, and its wicked fun to bomb down, even if you dont have a dh bike.
