Trail Description:
Many trail options from novice loops on State Park land to Kamakazi deep woods sections. Much of trails are in City of Montesano managed timber lands. Primary loops are well marked, surprising well maintained, abused little by motorized or hoved outlaws. Get maps from city forestry department or hang out until you meet one of the regulars who build and maintain the trails. Many of the newer trails are unmarked and unmapped but well made for intermediate to advanced riders. Two of the best loops begin by heading west along the flat wide trail along the lake. The Silvia Ridge loop is begins as this trail meets the Montesano B line road. Head left uphill on the gravel road about 700 feet, look for the trail steeply off to the right. First 50 feet are likey pushed, then fabulous deep woods dirt and roots single track. At end of ridge trail ride gravel to finish with fast deep woods Hamby Hill and back to lake on lower Silvia Creek trail either direction. One hour ride for weekend warrier. Second great loop on trail maps is to ride out b-line right onto d-line to start of Silvia East Fork trail. Fantastic single track with lots of roots and steep sections. Ride back on Groose Ridge trail. Great lowlands trails with steep but moderalty short climbs. You need a map or partner and best ridden during July-October as we get 60-80 inches of rain and dirt trails become mud.
How to get there:
From little town of Montesano Washington go up the hill past the little CTMarket into Lake Silvia State Park. If you can't find the park you should not go into the woods.
Additional Notes:
You higher milage types can link many sections together and get about 20 miles in a loop.

Had trail day and all trails are open in good shape. Yes there are many unmarked trails. Saturday morning rides w/locals are the norm.

The December storm last year made a mess of the West fork trail, and some quad riders are helping, darn it. but it's a very good ride, make sure you take a map to get there and back!

Trails are still in great shape this spring. Some thinning and logging, but a truely mulit-use managed forest. The City of Montesano has provided this map: http://www.montesano.us/images/recreation/TrailMap800.jpg
