Trail Description:
A real fun trail that edges a small creek. There is a regular paved trail that the yuppys use, but the singel tracks are almost all on the north side of the paved madness. Just stay close to the edge and you will be OK. A lot of trees to ride trough, twist, turns, a couple good climbs, and a 2 or 3 great spots for learning how to jump big things! A different ride every time.

How to get there:
From Sacramento go south to Modesto. Take the Downtown exit and go through a couple intersections till you get to Hst.Turn Left

From Fresno go North and take the Downtown exit. Get ready to turn right on to Hst.

Follow Hst to La Loma Dr. and turn right. Go through the round-a-bout and go down hill. After the bridge turn left and park. Drop in any where. Look for the wooden bridge at the N.E. side of the park and cross it, the fun begins now!

The park is called Moose Park. Follow it for 6 miles till you get to your second street overpass and turn around and do it all over again.

This trail has something for all types of riders. I ride XC, road bike, and starting to do a bit of freeriding. For what we have in the area, it's a great trail unless you don't mind driving 1 1/2 hours to get on a longer/more technical trail like New Melones. If you want to go fast and run into some obstacles along the way, it's about 9.5 miles round trip. For road biking, it's a bit over 10.5 miles; this is if you hook a left once you reach the top of the overpass. Moose Park has a parking lot that had been closed to parking. You can practice doing drops where the grass area meets the parking lot. It's about 4 feet, but great for beginners. It has parts that you can land softly on, or you can huck the part where there used to be steps and you will land on concrete. If you go over the wooden bridge, you can drop down some stairs. Also, when you get to the second wooden bridge, look over the bridge and you can actually ride down a steep dip and get on

I've been riding this trail for years and it's an excellent family ride. The paved path runs parllel to the single track for the less adventurous. Don't be fooled by the tame flats, there are pleanty of side trails that provide technical single track. I've intorduced a lot of friends to this ride and even strong riders find something to interest them. There have been reports of intermittent problems in the area, so I suggest you don't ride alone.

Its called Dry Creek! I especially like this trail because you an go all day and have fun riding the ups and downs, and still finding a little something new every time. People come in and carve new paths and hills into the trails all the time.

EDIT: It runs along Scenic from Claus to La Loma.

This trail is known as Dry Creek. It runs from Scenic all the way in town to La Loma area at a place called Moose Park. Moose park is near down town area and you have several signs of the homeless around but as you ride out that gets less and less. The Scenic end of the trail is very clean by comparison. They have tried to kill the off pavement parts of this ride for years and failed. There is a nice and smooth paved path the whole way. Dotted along this path are little single track trails both on the creek side bank and the dry side near the golf course. Lots of twists and turns, whoopdee's and scenery. Its a fantastic place to take the family and learn the basics of off roading. If you ride in both directions you get two very different rides. If you want a challenge you have to go elsewhere but for some casual fun in town this is a great place to go. Picnic areas and public restrooms are available. Almost half of the 5+ mile trail has dirt off shoots to explore.

I have alot of fun in these trails with my friends. Great for someone who doesn't have much experience riding trails. On sunday you can catch the sprinklers on the golf course if it gets too hot.

The single tracks on this trail are good but way to short. The paved trail is about 5 miles and the single tracks are only about 1 mile combined. It is a nice family place to visit but don't go ther expecting to really mountain bike.
