Trail Description:
Trail is on former Burlington Northern roadbed. It is now crushed rock, and while it is wide enough for a car in most places, only service vehicles are allowed. Anyone looking for even the slightest adrenaline rush will not find it here, but it is a safe place to take the parents if they want to bike with you.
How to get there:
At Nebraska City: from Highway 75 south of Nebraska City, turn at the entrance to the OPPD Nebraska City Power Station. (OPPD road is one mile south of Nebraska City on Highway 75, turn east onto the OPPD road). Just before reaching the plant (at the switchyard), turn south (right) and go about 1½ miles to the end of the road. Turn right (toward the bluffs) and follow the road to the trail parking (just north of grain elevators).

Excellent for a couple of older out of shape folks. It was a beautiful scenic trip with several unique items such as the rock artwork of Roland Sherman and many views of the Mo river. We rode from Brownsville to Peru, then camped at the trailhead in Peru. A very nice campground, free with water and clean modern restrooms(no showers though). We also had a great steak at Cotty's within walking distance from the trailhead. Their fresh applecrisp was not to be missed. Wonderful weekend getaway!!!! Thankyou Nebraska!!

For the beginner rider....or the bit out of shape rider, this is an excellent ride. The trail is well maintained and has ample shade. We rode this weekend (September 26th) and it was beautiful. Nothing like riding through corn fields:) Slow and Easy is the way to take this trace.....:)
