Trail Description:
Operated by BREIA (the Black River Environmental Improvement Association), for ski touring, these trails are gated, signed, patrolled, and maintained. Two parking lots, both on Egypt Road, the first on the right just after the tracks about 3/4 mile west of SR12, the other another mile or so up the hill on the left. Appoximately 6-8 miles of trail on rolling glacial terrain, some drops down into the creek valley on short, steep road cuts. See http://www.centralnewyorker.com/BREIA%20Ski%20Trail/BREIAskitrail.htm for additional details. Great place for the weekend warrior to do a few laps or for advanced beginners to get a challenge. The distance you can go depends on your stamina.
How to get there:
SR 12 north from Utica to intersection with Egypt Rd, abt 1/4 mi north of SR 28 Y, left on Egypt Rd. abt 3/4 mi on right just across tracks to lower parking, about another mile up the hill to upper parking on left.
Additional Notes:
Sign the register so BREIA gets a head count, join BREIA and support their work.

These trails are a lot of fun, no singletrack but still a good ride. Make sure and watch out for hikers, some of the hills are pretty fast and they appear out of knowhere.

its prettty coool its mostly rolling hills except for
the gullys which are a bit steeper, longer and
rougher terrain because horses leave there hoove
prints in the ground. Its alot of fun! there is a trail
on one side of the road then it crosses the road to
another trail were the gullys are. its good for
xcountry sking too ive been skiing there since i
was about six.
