Trail Description:
This trail runs the length of the Black Hills. It cuts thru remote high country. It has sections that are very technical, and others that are wide open downhill joyrides. Most of the 12 trailheads are located at lakes or near streams, meaning you usually get a good 2-5 mile climb followed by 2-5 mile downhill to the next trailhead. The trail markers are sometimes hard to find and I have spent a lot of time lost up there so bring a few good maps.

How to get there:
With 12 trailheads you can access this trail from many differant locations.Rapid City is located towards the middle and makes a great home base.

Additional Notes:
The boys at ACME Bikes in Rapid City are the ones to talk to for info.

hey Dirckman...if it were not for the "pricks" keeping this trail open for nearly 30 years through riding and registration fees, you'd be flat landing it on the cho cho trail. don't forget who blazed the trail first and show some respect.

I've ridden the majority of the Centennial trail usually in thirty mile increments. If you like a difficult trail with little to no traffic the Centennial trail is for you. Some of the hill climbs are quite difficult for the trail is strewn with rocks and the inclines can be very steep. When riding the Centennial trail it is wise to bring a map because many of the trail markers are hard to spot or missing. I have gotten lost on several occasions and bicycled miles out of the way. The Centennial trail crosses many streams, yet has few bridges, the streams can be difficult to cross as well and I've had many a spill into the water, an extra set of dry socks are reccomended. The scenery is breathtaking especially around French creek and Nemo. They allow motorized vehicles around the Nemo area though, so expect a few pricks on dirtbikes and fourwheelers.
