Trail Description:
Joaquin Miller is a little gem in Oakland with a bunch of legal and illegal singletrack. I recommend hitting up Sunset Trail for some great views, and one steep but short technical climb, then hitting Big Trees trail for some single track windies in the trees and finally, not for the weal at heart the illegal Palos Colorados Trail.

How to get there:
Best entrance is located by taking the PArk Blvd exit off Hwy 13 and then heading south on Mountain Blvd, take a right on Maountain gate and park. climb up the steep Castle Rd and take a right before the eucalyptus grove onto Sunet trail.

AG Abbott seems to be taking this path to serve as a grdtasnand for states rights and challenge some components of the VRA. It's the perfect way to kick off his campaign for governor, unfortunately at the expense of the Texas voters. Dissenting Judge Smith's points are almost textbook from the Republican playbook on this matter. The fact that Abbott is using them as his argument further demonstrates how contentious this is going to get.BTW, the 35th is getting interesting also with former Rep. Ciro Rodriguez entering and possibly facing Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Sylvia Romo, a former representative in the Texas House. There's also some rumor (not sure how solid) that State Rep. Jose Menendez might challenge Castro but I haven't seen much more on that. I think the majority of the Bexar County Democrats are supporting Castro for this race.

i dont think palos colorados is illegal... but its kinda boring so it doesnt really matter. big trees isnt isnt tht great either in my opinion, but if your looking for some fun downhill, look for cinderella. its not too hard but it has some easy jumps and its overall good trail.

I couldn't find any legal single track there. Fire roads were nothing special. Left with a bad impression because at the end of my ride, a guy across the creek was screaming that his friend was badly hurt and needed an ambulance. They were riding on an illegal trail. Why is all the single track off limits in the East Bay park district?

This area is okay. Cool views with minimal effort to get them. A few short steep climbs help to keep you shape, if you live in the area and don't have time to go some place decent. The redwood side is better. Watch out for hikers with attitudes and a severe lack of common sense. Most trails (all single track) are closed to bikes.

better to combine with a ride in adjacent Redwood park for a mixed x-c / singletrack ride;
