Trail Description:
This ride starts with a hard climb to top. The downhill can be fun yet challenging with some 1-2 feet drop offs and a couple of tight switch backs. It is a pretty chalanging trail and a hard climb, the way down is a blast.
How to get there:
Cross 460 on to Toms Creek Road. Look for Old
Farm Road on the right about 4-10 miles up dirt
trail about 120 yards past where you turned
on to old farm road.
Additional Notes:
have fun

So, if you are going to write the directions to a sight,
could you please take the time to write in complete
and cogent sentences? It doesn't take that long, and
people might actually be able to find the location.

What a classic, Old farm. been ridin this since the 80's. total elevation btw, is more like 800' on this 1.5 mile climb. praise to all the trail work that has taken place on this over the years.
Gateway is an appropriate re-name, as this trail takes one to a plethora of trails surrounding Pandapas pond, on both brush mountain and gap mountain to the west. i always prefer the quick road ride out shadow lake to old farm to start my ride, plus then you get the bonus descent back down Old farm, which is one of the best on brush.
the road at the top will take you to 460 if you go right, and all the way to mccoy (eventually) if you go right. trail heads right are sidewinder, hairball, horse, and left are beast, beauty (old skool original names)

great work out. this is old farm trail, also known as gateway. meaning it is the gateway to pandapas, when you get to the top of this climb it puts you on the fs road, or jeep trail. across the road from the top of old farm is jacobs ladder (awesome downhill)
to the left about 1.5 mi. is beauty, great trail, to right about a mile is snake root, and about 1.5 mile to right is horse nettle. all these trail drop down brush mtn. on the pandapas pond size. longest ride from bottom of old farm has been about 18 mi. for me

Very difficult ride up, Fun ride down. however, I would like to know where the road at the top of the trail goes. If anyone has any information on this please share it. Thank you.

Awesome trail. I'm pretty new to the trail riding scene, but this trail is pretty awesome. Steep climb, very technical, but the ride down is awesome.

I've never biked this trail, but I've run it several times. This trail is so steep that running it can be difficult at times. This trail is not for beginners - only experienced Hokies. it is an unwritten rule that this trail should only be done at night. eventhough this trail is only about 2 miles long, it puts you right into pandapas - which is huge.
