This is a popular out and back ride. Because it follows along teh Methow River it climbs at a fairly gentle pace. This makes it ideal for a less intense ride. Whether you're looking for a rest day after a major climb the day before or you just want a gentler ride this is perfect.

While the terrain is rolling, this is no beginner ride. There are some dangerase exposures, challenging scree slopes and other obstacles to make this ride fun for the experienced rider.

The trail ends at the Pacific Crest Trail which is closed to bikes. This is your turnaround point.

How to get there:
From Winthrop head west on Highway 20 to the Mazama turnoff. Turn right and drive an 1/8th of a mile to a T intersection. Turn left at the T onto Lost River Road. Follow Lost River Road until it becomes Forest Service Road #5400. Continue past Ballard Campground past the Hart's Pass turnoff. Follow the signs straight ahead past Riverbend Campground to to the West Fork of the Methow trailhead.
