Trail Description:
To ride this trail you need to start no later than 10 am. and as you enter prepare for soome of those "you must be insane" looks from passing hikers. The first 3 miles is where you get all the elevation and it is hell. Nice gradual climbing for about a mile then you get out of the valley on to the ridge and the next 2 miles is all switchbacks. Also as you climb, the trail gets skinier and sandier and rockier. Most of the upper switchbacks are cut right into shale rocks, so bring extra tubes. Once at the top your rewarded with spectacular views and a scense of "Wow I climbed that".
Then you follow the trail down and you encounter insanly steep rocky switch backs going down for about a mile and a half. Then things level out some and eventually the trail you started on (1383)dumps in to an ORV trail and you get about 1/2 a mile of very fast rocky terain.
Then the terrain is varied the rest of the way down you get every thing from tight, fast and smooth to slow and rocky to sandy and slick.
Oh yeah, be prepared to crose the river 10 TIMES!!!! And it is a very very very cold river. All the crossings range from 1-3 feet deep and 10 to 50 feet wide after all is said and done you should have a ride waiting for you at the end of the trail at the top of fire road 113.
How to get there:
Take I-90 to Cle Elum get off at exit #85 then take a right on to hwy 970 then turn left onto teanaway rd folow that to the first "Y" turn onto north fork teanaway RD then folow it to fire road 9737 up to the Beverly camp ground. the trail head is about 5 feet from the end of the camp. from there folow trail 1383 to trail 1393 on out to fire road 113.and have a ride waiting becuse you'll be cold and tired (your ride will have to back track out from the beverly campground to the west fork teanaway road and folow it to the first right. folow that road up to fire road 113 and folow the road untill u get to the trailhead)
Additional Notes:
You will get wet so have a change of close and some food ready when you get out.

I haven't done this ride but I can tell you that this ride description takes you up near Malcolm Mt. and then descends to and down the MIDDLE Fork Teanaway River to the 113 road. I have ridden the WEST Fork of the Teanaway and it has 8 crossings just like the Zilly book says so maybe the MIDDLE Fork has the 20 crossings? This may be a good ride and I'll have to check it out but thought I'd try to clear up any confusion.

This is not Teanaway Ridge, which is parallel to Highway 97. This guys description is for the Malcolm Mt. Area
As far as I can tell, this guy rode up and over Malcolm Mt. and down into the West Fork Teanaway. The trail up Way Creek from the W. Fork could be used to make the ride into a loop. The W. Fork trail does have 20 stream crossings in 8 miles. There are several good and tough trails in the area, Malcolm Mt. is a pretty interesting loop ride from the Johnson Creek trailhead , some of the trail is not maintained, a map and compass is necessary as there are some dead end trails and the ridge top can be hard to follow in murky conditions. I've ridden Malcolm Mt. 3 times, twice from the Johnson Creek Trailhead and once from the W. Fork Teanaway. It's been about 5 hours each time for a 10-12 mile ride. Ride it in either direction, it makes little difference. It is tough and remote riding with substantial hike-a-bike. This is rated good, if you're into that type of rid
