Trail Description:
This is a fun ride just outside of Clarkston in the town of Asotin. You can actually make a loop out of this ride if you want but that involves a long fire road which just isn't worth it. In addition, you can make this ride as long as you want. The main singletrack goes out 7 miles following along Asotin Creek. But towards the end there are other options for more riding.
Because the ride follows up Asotin Creek in a canyon, there is ample shade making this a fun ride on all but the hottest days.
How to get there:
From Clarkston head South along the river. After 5 miles you'll reach Asotin. Turn right just before the "Welcome to Friendly Asotin" sign and start following Asotin Creek which is on your left. This is Asotin Creek Road. Stay on this road keeping right at all intersections. After 3.5 miles you'll pass Cloverland Rd. Stay right. After 13 more miles pass S. Fork Rd. Keep right and turn onto Lick Fork Rd. It's one more mile to the gate. If the gat happens to be open, there is parking 1/4 mile up on the left at the trailhead. If the gate is closed then park here and ride up the 1/4 mile to the trailhead on the left.

If you’ve laid off biking all winter, this is a great trail to get you up and going again for the summer mountain biking season. It is best ridden in spring, before the brush gets too dense and occludes portions of the trail, and before the rattlesnakes come out if full, jittery force. Volunteers usually do a trail maintenance day in April, so if you are earlier than that, you may find a fair share of obstacles fallen across the trail (trees and rocks).
[NOTE: All mileage in this review is approximate.]
The first three miles is mostly twin track, with a few single-track sections. One of these, about a mile into the trail, is a very narrow track at the base of a cliff and on the edge of a four-foot high rocky bank along the creek. This section is especially treacherous if the trail volunteers have yet to clear away all the mini-boulders that have fallen from the cliff on account of the winter freeze-thaw cycle.
After about three miles you come to a clearing known as “The Hu

I always do this ride early season as I'm in town visiting relatives each year. It's not an epic, but it is a fun ride that is in great shape early. Super fun on the way back down!
