Trail Description:
I started from Ketchum which is 4 miles south of the trail head. Fox Creek starts off as a jeep road and then funnels into single track. I passed a ton of hikers on this trail. Please be curtious. The Fox Creek trail has a few junctions. Approx half way into the loop is a trail junction to Chocolate Gulch. I decided to take the Chocolate Gulch turn off for an extra 4 miles of dirt. Chocolate Gulch starts off as being uphill with some ugly switch backs but ends in a fast a furious downhill on smooth dirt. Chocolate Gulch will loop back to Fox Creek where you can continue your uphill climb on Fox Creek. My total trip from Ketchum and back ended up being 20 miles. These 2 trails are well worth it. I would suggest looking at a trail map before hitting this ride. PS - Local maps will show which direction to ride these trails, I rode Chocolate Gulch backwards and would recomend riding it clockwise. Fox Creek works well being ridden counter clockwise.
How to get there:
Ride up Highway 75 (mostly on the bike rollerblade path) for about 4 miles. The Fox Creek Trail head starts on the west side of the highway and will head north.

To make this an even better ride, start at Hulen Meadows where the bike path ends. Go up through the subdivison making all right hand turns, you will come to a FS trail that cuts through some private property(it is ok). The trail is an abandoned two track that takes you on the back side of Lake Creek. After aprox. 1 mile the trail cuts up to the left and up the mountain. The trail can be a bit difficult as it stays next to the Big Wood River over a couple of rock sections and a short switchback. It will eventually drop you down onto the main Fox Creek gulch where you hang a left and start up the canyon. It adds another two miles and is an easier commute so as not to ride along the highway.
