Trail Description:
Trail starts with a nice incline with a few technical sections. The incline ends with a real butt-kicker climb. After a few miles of climbing you are handsomely rewarded with an awesome down hill. It is fast and technical at times. There are numerous hair-pin turns to be aware of but other than that it is very fast. Towsley is a great trail for more experienced riders who are in fairly good riding condition. Might be a little much for beginners.

How to get there:
From L.A. head North on I5 towards Santa Clarita. Take the Calgrove exit and make a left. You will pass The Old Road and turn right onto a dirt/pavement parking lot on the right side. If you get the the post office you went too far. Park outside the gate and ride in. Head straight (pass the trailhead sign on the left) toward the picnic area. Follow the paved road to the single track. It is pretty well labeled.

Additional Notes:
It gets pretty hot during the summer. If you are not up for triple digit temps ride in the morning.

ok guys, listen up...there hasnt been a review for towsley in 5 years. the trail is very technical now, the creek is not clear of rocks or obstructions. you will have to walk your bike through the creek bed...once you start the switch backs you are going to feel your lungs want to explode...the trail is very steep at times. its alot more narrow than it used to be, alot more rock gardens from the trail washing away, alot more ditches in the trail. there arent berms on the turns for the switchbacks anymore so slow your rolls on those corners or you can go over... towsley used to be alot less complicated but now its very unforgiving!!! good luck

Much trail work has been done, the stream crossing in the beginning was more technical and now its all cleared of rock so you can get through easy. The climb can be hot since its in the sun, with some large trees once you get higher. Down is in the shade. The last steep section of the climb at the very end is gone now, a tree has been downed in front of it and there is a new switchback along the left side of this last steep section now. In pretty good shape since the fire but watch out for hikers on the way down. Really easy to go fast.

duration is about 1 hour to 2 hours depending on how good you are on up hill biking because thats what is mostly is. But its worth it because of the downhill.
