These trails really shouldn't riden during the day. The trails are filled with young children, old people, out of shape people and lawyer types all walking or jogging. Not to mention bikes are banned from the trails so if you hit someone your only making it harder for local bike advocacy groups to get us real trails to ride. If you feel like you must ride these trails wait till after dark get your lights and hit the trails then. Then after your done poaching the trails stop at the Goldfish Tavern and get a drink.

I love the 5 mile drive at point defiance. But I believe bikes are not aloud within the dirt trails, right? I mean, isn't it a protected park? Or we can just ride the trails with no problems?

Those trails are illegal to ride period. However, it is a very good place to exercise your lights and ride at night when the whiny types are sleepy-bye. The drop-offs from the outer perimeter are 300+ feet in places. Best to scope the trails on foot in the daylight to avoid ugly surprises. I have one route that is about a mile and a half of downhill with some twisties on a wide singletrack. Best riding is between Thanksgiving and New Years but year around is great. It is possible to lead a ride through there in the dark and do fifteen miles without seeming to hit the same trails twice.

THe trails are posted NO BIKES and that is enforced (w/ strict fines) by the Park District.
