Trail Description:
A classic Boston must-do ride. This ride is made up of a combination of different loops around 3 water resevoirs. Disregard the main mountain biking loop for the most part. It's 80% dirt road. (Boring) Follow the White, Orange and Blue markers posted to trees. I like to park at the upper sheepsfold parking area and head north on the small strip of singletrack that leads through the dog field and picnic table area. Just on the other side of the field the skyline trail(white markers) picks up after a quick right then your first left. I like doing the loop counter clockwise personally. Since it's a combinations of loops, it's tough to get lost for very long. It gets pretty technical in places. Have fun!

How to get there:
hwy 128 to 93 south to exit 35. Left at offramp and go under hwy. Merge right. Right at first light.(friendly's will be on your left) Sheepsfold parking area is about 2 miles up on the right.(big sign)

Additional Notes:
There is also riding on the east side of the park that is worth checking out.

In point of fact, bikers may ride on any fire road. Please refer to http://www.mass.gov/mdc/FELLS.HTM. While the single track would be nice, the concerns of erosion and of running into people are real and should be everyone's concern. Some of those fire roads are pretty challenging too. I guess they use Jeeps for fire trucks in Stoneham. The official bike loop does include some singletrack that is plenty technical for me (it's true, I'm weak). The only change you're going to effect in the rules by breaking them is to increase enforcement.

Only single track trail open to bikes is a small section which is also part of the mountain bike loop - all other trails are illegal and closed to bikes. Unless you want us all thrown out of here, disregard the advice of john and stick to the legal trails- most trails in this park are heavily eroded, rocky, and generally suck. Check out http:// www.fellspreservation.com for nasty erosion photos and the official park regulations and reviews of closed trails like the one John posted above.
