Trail Description:
The Youth Town Trail located just south of Jackson is a fun trail to ride. Parts of the trail can be fast , while others are technical. You will need a permit which can be purchased for $20.00 at Bicycle City located on U. S. 45N in Jackson. This permit is good for unlimited riding all year and it lets us use the property at youth town. Don't mess it up.

How to get there:
From interstate 40 take Hwy 45S and travel through Jackson. On the southside of Jackson look for the Youth Town sign on your right. If you come to the school on the right you've gone too far. Turn into Youth Town and take the first gravel road to the left. You will come to another fork stay to the left and you will see the parking area on your left.

Additional Notes:
There is a picnic tables, a wash rack and a bike rack at the trail head.

Pinson Mounds is good to hit up if you are in the area. Park at the campsite. Roll over on the gravel towards mound 28. Keep going on the gravel until you see a leafy trail on your left. Take it and then left at the split. Start at the Nature Trail sign in the very back left corner.Follow the trail until it ends a couple miles up. Then turn around and backtrack until you get to the yellow trail.Take it. You will end up back at the split where you started. Some stair sections may require some crafty free ride ingenuity. Hold onto your headbands and remember, ride with your moccassins on.

Also in the close area (8 miles away at Chicasaw State Park)there are other cool trails to ride on. Go to Lake Placid Campgrounds. There is a trail that follows the lakeshore. It has two trails that branch off called Friends Path and Forked Tree. I recommend riding the trails one way and then the opposite direction.Total miles probably with doubling it up maybe 7 or 8. I also rode the horse trails in the beginning of the State Forrest located in the back of the State Park to your immeadeate right. I rode this before I found the hiking trails. Very tough through horse hoves and gauged out trenches. Strictly for the dedicated scouter. I don't know of any other trails there as of yet. What I did find was alot more fast than Fred Young Junior Park.

since this place is closed i ride at fred young junior park on the opposite side of the highway.it's right before pinson mounds state park.eat your wheaties for sure.this trail is very demanding indeed.be prepared for a full body workout.there are alot of climbs to confront.there are also tons of. swithbacks.maximum use of the land was dedicated for the high complexity of trail density.you will need a good couple hours to tackle this project.very good trail if you like technical balance and tactiful climbing.it is tough to maintain a fun 8 m.p.h.(mtb at its optimal) stay focused.there is a light at the end of the tunnel.keep cranking.

There is a new trail in Jackson at Fred Young Park less than a mile from youth town. Fun trail physically demanding

Posted by: Fartnocker on 3/16/2004
It's closed down now, riders are not able to access the Youthtown area for legal reasons. It was a great trail that had just enough challenges to make it technical in spots but in recent years it had some detours and additions that really detracted from the fun level. No big deal since it's shut down anyway.
