Trail Description:
This is part of the new trail sytsem that the national forest systme is puting in up and around snow basin ski resort. if you c an ride this trail monday through firday do so it gets crowded on the weekends, espically wheeler creek canyon. there are numerious trails to choose from but this is my favorite ride. you can either start at the wheeler creek trail head or if you have beggginers or want a quick ride, go up to snow basin, lot number 2. in lot number two in the north west corner, you will see the gate where the take off point is.

from the wheeler creek trail head just follow the trail up through the canyon, tis easy to follow until you get to a parkiing lot on the south side of the canyon. from this parking lot look to the west side, you will see a nice little camping spot down in the ravene and a trail that crosses the creek, this is the trail you want to be on. jump on and ride in a westerly direction. this is the art nord trail, beautiful and a fun trail. it is a little above a bigginer trail, however i have taken many benningers on this trail and they have loved it. at this top of this trail, you will come to a forrest service sign and an old jeep road. hang a right, or go north on this old road. you will go up a slight hill, follow the road. you will come to a double track, pass up the first one, and take the second double track that heads to the west. if you have not come onto a picnic table and a single track within 200 yards of the main dirt road, you are on the wrong trail. if you see the picnic table and the singel trail, follow the trail, it will be heading to the west. this is a great trail, and the addition of the log bridges and obsticles have made this an even more enjoyable trail. from this point to the over look is just about 3 miles..the over look is worth the ride itself.

for the shorter version, park at parking lot #2, in the northwest corner you will see a large gate blocking an old dirt road. park anywhere and follow this old dirt road...then well see instructions above.

coming back down it is about 6 miles of down hill back to your car at the wheeler creek trail head. what a scream it is.

if you wish a greater challenge, there is a alternative trail in wheeler canyon. as you are going up the hill, about a mile into the canyon, you will see that you cross what looks to be a large reatining wall, where the creek changes sides of the canyon. a few hundred yards past this crossing you will se a single track that heads to the west and towards the creek. Man what a trail, tis a tougher cliimb than the canyon but isnt that why we do this? this trail will connect with the art nord ttrail..when you hit the art nord trail you will be traveling south, just hang a right or go west.

enjoy, but watch for horses, espically on the art nord, and peds..in wheeler canyon. things right now are cool with everyone, lets keep it that way.

How to get there:
from I-15 take the 12 street exit. head east through ogden, then ogden canyon. just as you see the damn, you will go up a hill towards pine view dam. just before the top of the hill you will see the sign for wheeler canyon on the right side of the road.

if you wish to start at snow basin for the shorter rider..keep going past pine view dam and the signs will get you to snow basin.
