Trail Description:
A few years ago this trail was closed, purchased by the City of Roswell, fixed up by RAMBO (Rowell-Alpharetta Mountain Biking Organization), and reopened. There is a 1.7 mile well-signed "Beginners Loop" from which all other trails connect.
Most of the trails are pretty easy, like Yellow River and Blankets Creek, but there were a few interesting spots on the smaller side trails.
There was a cool section of moguls, a few pipes, some more reasonable jumps, several creek crossings (some sandy some rocky), and a few good hill climbs too. All of these more challenging things were completely optional. There are loops upon loops so you can add in or take out just about any section of the trail. Even though there are a lot of loops it's bordered by GA 400 on one side, there's a creek in the middle, and subdivisions (and a swamp) on another side so it's nearly impossible to get lost.
How to get there:
The gravel parking lot is located just east of 400 on the left side of Old Alabama. To get there take Holcomb Bridge going East to Old Alabama, then go North on Old Alabama, and turn left into the gravel parking lot just past the entrance to Belcourt Apartments on the left.
Additional Notes:
The NAD27 CONUS GPS point for the parking area is 34 01 26.4 / 84 18 44.4.

I rode this course yesterday (after work) for the first time. There were a good amount of people there and the course was a bit full. I got a little confused because I did not take notice of the path direction based on the day of the week. Which I never seen before. But I like this idea, that way you don't fun into people, plus the trails are narrow. I normally ride Yellow River in Stone Mountain and the trails are a bit wider. So here is my opinion of this course:
This course is a bit more technical than Yellow River. I really like the rock garden at Big Creek and there are a lot of switch backs here. The course is a bit short in duration but a lot of fun to ride. There are no real good climbs that I found, which is fine. Lot's of good downhill with effortless uphill.. Not sure how that works, but i found myself going downhill more often than not. People are very friendly here. 9 times out of 10 I received a hello back. There are some cool man made agility/technical objects

Big Creek has improved since 10/10/2006. Gravel parking lot is still there, Still about 10 miles to ride (combination of all the loops), and 1.5 mi Beginner Loop is still the corner stone. However, there's now three intermediate loops, two expert loops, and a free ride section (renovation in process) that diverge from the Beginner's Loop. Trail upkeep is good, excellent riding variety for ATL area, and RAMBO has added some flavor to this Ole' Single Track with new manmade obstacles.
