Trail Description:
This is a State Forest (not named) area near Takura. It's mostly single track, with gully crossings, downhill runs (ranging from shallow to *very* steep) and a reasonably wide dirt road that runs the entire length of the State Forest.
How to get there:
From the Maryborough/Hervey Bay road, take the Takura/Torbanlea turnoff. 9.7km in there is a road on the right called Toogoom Cane Road. 600m in from there, on the left, is the State Forest area entry.

any obvious tracks down the other side. Wonderful view over the area and back to Fraser Island though, good spot for a drink and food.
Headed back down to the left of where I dragged up, and there was a great ST heading back around the base of the hill and crossing a few dry creeks. I went out and back on this. Along the way I spotted some of the blue triangle markers on other tracks I crossed. Went back out onto the main dirt road and headed east around the perimeter of the park. After about 5km passed a ST heading back into the forest. This turned out to be part of a very long ST which was marked the whole length with the triangles, and led all the way through the forest back to the MX Bowl.
The closest I can describe this ST is a cross between the windy Canbra pineforest ST, in a forest and ground more like the Oaks Gum ST. Either way, it really is superlative, probably the best single stretch of ST I've ever done, anywhere. I rode it 3 times out and back. It seemed like

Wow, what a great MTB spot. The ground is a red/brown rocky/shale sort of stuff, which was quite compacted and very grippy. It is a large area and is criss crossed by all manner of motocross and mtb tracks. There seemed to be a main MTB loop of over 10kms marked with Blue triangle markers. Once you get into the forest as above, ride away from the carpark up the obvious firetrail. You then come to the main dirt road they mention above, turn right and about 50m on there are a couple of burnt out cars. Head left into the bush there and there's a moto dirt bowl jump park thingo.
This leads off into great singletracks in every direction. There were a lot of really excellent fun STs winding around the MX area and up and down a whole series of bombhole craters. After playing around here for a while, I tried to head up the biggest hill (a rise really) directly behind the bowls. Got loose and steep and I ended up walking/dragging the bike the last 50m to the top, but couldn't find a
