Wow. I have gone to Montesano several times and have grown to love it. the first time i went i went with my family because it was said that there was a family trail on the mountain and there was but it consists of packed gravel, sand, pine needles and some very large flat rocks. my dad had a hybrid (basicallly a road bike with bigger wheels with more tread and a little better fork) bike and my mom had a "comfort/crusier" bike. the hybrid did ok but we had to stay strickly on the "family trail". from the family trail we see a network of some singletrack trails and several downhill trails. i came back as soon as i could with my uncle(also into mtb)to explore the singletrack and the downhills and found a surprize. (my bike is a hardtail) the singletrack is "technically" shared with hikers however i found this out the hard way when i had to bail to keep from taking out this old married couple, so watch for people but tear it up. next we checked out the downhills some of which were labeled
