yes, this trail is hard to find. I had previously done these trails on a MX Dirt bike, one of the down- sided to this trails as they are also open to Dirt Bikes. Will not take a dirt bike to this area again, as i am sticking to mountain biking from here on out! Anyway, if you can manage to find your way up there - (there's a number of different entry points to get on the trails) you'll find it a great challenge with some bridges and other fun obstacles...

It's funny that people mention this place being hard to find. I have ridden here for years and I still have a hard time explaining to others how to ride from the bottom of the Columbine trail or the chutes. Best advice, go with somebody who has been there or talk to the people at a local bike shop. If you find the trailhead, it is well worth it.

1st off the directions to this trail are way off! Take I-25 south(not I-70) through Colorado Springs until you see signs for highway 24, head west toward the mountains, turn left on 21st St., go to the top of the hill and take a right at the light, continue on through the stop sign until you hit Gold camp road, keep going, you will hit a dirt road this is still Gold Camp go another 2 miles through 2 tunnels and look for a parking lot on your right. The trail starts in the NW corner of the lot, it is a dirt fire road, take this for .75 miles until you see a trail that comes in from your right(this is buckhorn trail)If you loop back around you wnet to far. About 70 yds up the trail you come to a Y take the trail to the right(killer climb for the next 1.2 miles) you will come to another Y take the right again(this is Upper Captain Jacks) nice hairy single track with HUGE drops off the sides. Take this down to High drive and a small parking lot. Look for a single track trail off the the le
