Trail Description:
Overview of Trail System:

The Lake Lurleen State Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama has recently completed Phase I of a major extension to its multi-use trail system. With the completion of Phase I the trail system’s total mileage is approximately 10.5 miles. For now this is an IN and OUT trail which must be taken into account by trail users. After the completion of Phase II the trail will connect with the north end of the Park and will be a 20 mile plus loop trail system.

The trail system is comprised of three connected trails (Lakeside Trail, Tashka Trail, and Five Oaks Loop) and is open to hiking, mountain biking, and running.

MOTORIZED VEHICLES and EQUESTRIANS

are NOT allowed on this trail system. The trail starts behind Pavilion #1; this is the pavilion on the left side of the Park entrance. Amble parking is available at this trailhead. The Park entry fee is $2 on weekdays, $3 on weekends.

The entire trail is rated Intermediate in accordance with guidelines is stablished by IMBA, the International Mountain Biking Association

Use caution when on the trail, come prepared, and respect other trail users and the creatures of the forest.

How to get there:
Lake Lurleen State Park which is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Northport. This park, which was named after the late Governor Lurleen Burns Wallace, is a scenic state park located on a 250 acre lake. The entire park, located just off U.S. Highway 82 on Tuscaloosa County Road 49, encompasses over

1,600 acres. Park amenities include a fully equipped campground, camp store, nature center, play and picnic areas, pavilions, swimming beach, bath house, bait and tackle shop, fishing piers, rental canoes and paddle boats. It is a family fun park ideal for spending the day or overnight camping. Lake Lurleen is open daily

from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
