Anyhow, FP, MO and powerline are scheduled for dig up in the NCCs master plan (5 year plan). Check out the web site. Not sure were they are getting all the money, especially when the powers that be keep saying our "health care" system is in need of billions... a nice trail system though, while it lasts...

If the NCC can only leave it be. They are tearing up to much good trail #9 and 3 for example. These are great trails in the dead of winter (after an ice storm in Jan). Something weird is going on with the NCC, I've never seen so much construction up there. I wish they would spend the money on fixing up the asphault on Mine and Notch roads so one could do a large loop from Asticou to the lookout and back down Fortune to Chelsea. There are some good hidden trail here - look closely (they just marked them as no bike zones - yet I have yet to see any one ever use them for walking - the NCCs way of closing down a trail before they widen it - the way the NCC works: 1) they clutter up the trail 2) they down some trees 3) they close the trail down (no bikes) 4) they close other trails so walkers are forced onto some of the hidden trails THEn, they start construction on them. It is said that the construction companies working on them are X-NCC employees, makes me wonder...

Actually having lived 5 minutes from the trails (which is also 5 minutes from most hotels downtown, you can leave them in your flashy outfit...and head straight to the trails), I can tell you I really miss the Gatineau Park. Over 120 kms of awesome singletrack, framebending freeride trails, downhill slopes, it has everything! Plus the 45 kms of hell on the Gatineau parkway , the best tarmac in all Eastern Canada, give some serious climbing and descending fun to roadies (which I also am). I highly recommend this as a bike trip, it's far less expensive than going to Mont Tremblant or Mont Sainte-Anne, and you have more versatility, plus a beautiful City to explore (I now live in Quebec City, and this is also a superb biking area, with Mont Sainte-Anne as the playground).

some good stuff here, may be the one of the best in eastern Canada. You can get in some technical stuff at Camp Fortune or some butt breaking X country (like up to 100 k if you go from Asticou up the 5 to the 1 down the 40 to O'Brien to the 15 to the 52 and 53 then to Lake Phillipe then back to O'brien up the #1 back to Asticou - huge loop - 7 hours or so, very painful experience. There are some wicked hidden paths if you look closely. Watch the bears, they come out on the #1 and the 15 at night! Nudists - eeeccckkk - they're even more frightening!!!Mont Tremblent has a lot of catching up to do ...some good stuff here.

the whole area around Camp Fortune is full of killer mountain biking and road riding. trails are constantly rolling with virtually no flats. something for everyone. best season is the fall when all the bugs are gone and the trails are dry

The downhill course that the Quebec cup runs is brutally painful but ohhhhh so much fun!You had better know what you are doing....very technical.
