Trail Description:
The Brandon Hills is an area of wildlife management and private land. There is a great variety of single and double track trails. The terrain is rolling with fast-flowing singletrack, switchbacks and short leg-busting climbs. The cross-country(A, B and C loops) are double-track and mapped out with good signage. The singletrack is not marked and one should know where they are venturing when embarking on these trails. A 20 mile loop can be ridden without touching the same tracks, but again you need to know where you are going. Unofficial trail names include Fireant, Cranberry, Northface, Burning Bush, Sidewinder, Racer's Climb, Barbwire, Woodtick, Deadwood, Link, Chuck'n'Knuckles, Whitetoad, Blue Pot,The Swamp, Down'n'Up Fireroad, Sad Joe, Out'n'Back, Dead Coyote, Double Bypass, Telegraph, Grand Downhill, Paulz Trail, Treasure, Ron's Hill, The Spine, Gun Club, Shortcut, Heartbreaker Hill(with the infamous Widowmaker)and The Southface. A great riding area for such a flatland part of the world. Trails are well-maintained by a small group of dedicated riders who respect and preserve the beauty of the area and wishes of private landowners.
How to get there:
Take Highway #10 south for 6 miles out of Brandon. Turn left at an antique shop(immediately after crossing a bridge). Travel east on the gravel road for 3 miles. Turn right at a T-intersection. A sign will say "Not a Through Road" so you will know to turn right. Travel 1 mile south, you should be heading up the hill by now. The wildlife management area sign is on the left. Turn left here and 1/2 a mile east is the parking lot.. Nowhere else to go except park or turn around. You have arrived!
