Ride Summary:
East Coast style singletrack with some technical sections to satisfy the Colorado riders. Many short climbs and descents and one final long downhill.
Trail Description:
From the parking lot, follow Ski Hill Road as it climbs above the town of Breckenridge and past Peak 8, where the road turns to dirt. One mile up the dirt road, look for the Peaks Trailhead and parking on your left. Join the trail and wander through the woods, up and down many streams valleys, and across numerous boggy sections (these can be very muddy in spring and after rainstorms). At six miles, pass the Gold Hill and Colorado Trails, but remain on the Peaks Trail. This leads to the final, big descent. The trail drops steeply toward Frisco. Near the end, it moderates in angle, but becomes increasingly technical with a good drop-off on one side right at the end as it spits you out onto the dirt Miner's Creek Road. From here, you can return as you came, or if you're tired, follow the blazingly fast Miner's Creek Road to its intersection with the bike path, turn right and ride back to Breckenridge via this easier route.
How to get there:
From I-25 and 6th Avenue in Denver, drive west on 6th Avenue, then turn west on I-70. In 65 miles, exit at the first Frisco exit, following the signs for Breckenridge. Follow Hwy. 9, through Frisco to Breckenridge. Turn right at Ski Hill Road and park in the public parking.

I just road this trail last week. It is in good condition. There are several new bridge crossings completed, some of the older crossings need some work, so be careful. Great ride and great trail

Please remember to yield to uphill rider(s), stay on the trail even if you have to walk your bike, and be alert as this trail attracts many hikers and bikers.

I agree with a previous post... As a Summit County resident and frequent rider of this trail it is being ruined in places. People need to learn and actually practice some riding ethics; yield to other riders when appropriate and stay on the trail!! Ride the line! If you can't, stay on easier trails and work your way up. Leaving the trail causes erosion, erosion destroys and closes trails, ruining everyone's fun! It's a great ride. Start in Frisco, get your workout climbing towards Breck and then let it loose on the way back down! Super fun, just watch out for hikers and other riders

Did this with my 12 yo and both loved it from Breck to Frisco and then bused back to town. We are technical riders and you need to be the first 2 miles or so. The rest is a scenic down hill screamer

Great 1.5-2 hour ride in Breck! Very well maintained (stay on the trai!). Best done from Denver to Frisco so the fun DH is at the end. Smoke 'em if you got 'em at joint point at the summit.

This trail is being RUINED by those who choose to ride around obstacles. Stay on the trail, or stay on the couch.

Coming from Michigan, we just rode this trail and loved it - especially since it doesn't have to be looped with road riding. It starts technical for about 1/2 mile from Breck, and opens up into a roller coaster.... the way back from Frisco has some 'lovely' little ascents for the first few miles, and then back on the coaster ride. Great Blood and Sweat. We'll be back.

This trail is great from either starting point (Breck or Frisco). However listing it in Denver is a bit misleading. Breckenridge, Frisco or Summit County might be better.Thamks
