Trail Description:
Rough, steep and rocky road. Cycle up Granite Creek Road from the locked gate. Stay on the main road for 3.6 miles to the fork in the road (3100 feet elevation). Head down to lakes at 4.0 miles and take the spur road on the right down to Lower Granite Lake. Continue past the road to Upper Granite Lake at 4.5 miles. Return back on the same route.
How to get there:
From Seattle, take I-90 East to Exit 34. Turn left from the exit ramp passing a truck stop. At .6 miles turn right onto SE Middle Fork Road. Stay right when the road splits at 2.3 miles and the pavement ends. Continue another .7 miles on gravel and park ath the pull out by the locked gate on Granite Creek Road.

Lee, might you have been on the road south of
mailbox? Granite lakes is the second road on the
right past valley camp.

1.5 miles up the road it becomes so brushy that you have to push your bike through the small trees and branches. I turned around. I was bummed especially after spotting a bobcat as I began grinding up the road.
The trac was fine and the area is beautiful but I hope someone tries to save this before the foliage returns the trac wilderness. It looks like hikers made their own trail make it the lakes.

Killer grind uphill, not for the weak legged. I was pushing my bike for the last two miles. Great swimming in the lake to cool off before the rocky descent.
