How to get there:
West of Stanley on HWY21 about 7mi locate Stanley Lake Road. Drive up to the campground on the right about 2 miles and park here. The road that meets Stanley Lake Road on the right is the end of the loop. Ride up Stanley Lake road past the campgrounds to where the road begins to climb steeply. Continue up road until single track is seen on left, there will be a trail register there. Ride down rocky, bumpy trail and pay close attention. Bust out of the woods onto a huge meadow. Take the right fork and ride along the right side of the meadow. Meet up with a jeep road and hang a right. Continue on this road to Stanley Lake road and the car.

I rode this with my 10 year old son while on vacation in the Stanley area. I thought it was a great trail. Coming from a low elevation, Western Washington State the effects of the altitude were noticable but not drastic. The inital singletrack over Elk mountain was a bit technical with many rock gardens. My son did have to get off once or twice. The views on the back side of Elk were incredible and the combination of meadow singletrack,a few stream crossings and unused fast buff fire road becoming singletrack through the trees back to the main road was a great way to end the ride. Like the man said a good intro to riding in the area.
