Trail Description:
Ranger Creek starts with a long, demanding 10 mile climb up forest service roads. Start up forest road 72 passing all spur roads for 7.4 miles and then continue climbing to the right up road 7250 and come to an intersection at 9.6 miles. Stay straight up supr road 210 which ends at 10.2 miles. This is the beginning of the Dalles Ridge Trail #1197. Ride up this trail for about .5 miles to Ranger Creek Trail #1197 and take the sharp right downhill. The turn is easy to miss. Follow the trail down to HWY 410 and turn right to go back to your car.

This ride features technical singletrack and lots of steep swithcbacks. It's a tough rigde, but a real blast for those that are up to it.

How to get there:
Follow SR 167 South to SR 410 East for 38.2 miles to Forest Service Road 72. Turn left and go 50 yards and park on the right side of the road at a small pull out.

Rode as a shuttle from Coral pass. Nice traverse and then on down. I rode this on 9-15 and it was very fun.

What an excellent ride- my first time riding on this side of the river, with exception of White River Trail as part of a Skookum Flats loop. The switchbacks past the shelter on the Ranger Creek trail are a challenge, and I had to get off the bike for about half of them. Considering how many there are, that's a lot of dismounting... which for me makes Sun Top a better ride. But, there are some awesome sections here. Looking forward to trying Deep Creek and Palisades on the way down in the future. Oh yeah, the 5.4 mile ride up the forest road is a BIOTCH.... basically the same elevation gain as Sun Top but in 2 less miles.

This trail is an excellent all single track loop when combined with Palisades. Palisades is a much better downhill so ride up Ranger Creek to the junction with Palisades and bomb down Palisades then back to Camp Sherman where you started. Really good stuff!

Difficult ride up road #72. But certainly worth it as the views were amazing. Really enjoyed the ride down Ranger Creek Trail. The trail appeared well used and provided some awesome tight single track through some incredible, steep, forested mountain slopes. From the bottom we rode the trail on the west side of the river, back to the car which was parked at road #72. This trail was also great fun, though the river had washed out a section in the middle. Easy hike around.

This ride has a lot going for it. Ccaution should be used is certain sections. If you've never ridden it try shutteling up to the top the first time, or just be tough and earn your turns. The first 1/4 is superb singletrack. After you pass the junction of Ranger Creek trail and the Palisades trail, the next 1/4 is very tight steep single track with hairball switchbacks. The trail then opens up to some of the best riding you may ever do, through some of the most beautiful forest I've ever been in. I felt like an Ewok from Starwars going through the woods on a scooter. Next time we plan to ride up Ranger Creek and back down Palisades, half the triple crown. That could be epic.

Ranger is an Awesome Ride. It is much better than Sun Top.

We rode up FS 7174 to Corral Pass and then followed the Dalles Ridge Trail to Noble Knob. The climb up 7174 is less than six miles, but covers the majority of the 3000 foot elevation gain in less than five. The views along Dalles Ridge are spectacular of Mt Rainier and fields of wild flowers. Ranger creek trail itself, other than being steep sidehill is not a very tough trail. The upper switchbacks are not ridable except by someone with trials experience. the trail is a good bomb throught the woods. I think Sun Top across the Hwy 410 to be the better ride.
