Trail Description:
This thing is another king of the singletrack world. It takes alot of bike handling to have any kind of fun on this one. I would reccomend it for advanced and above. Do not go before July because there will be too much snow.

How to get there:
From Crested Butte: Drive north up Gothic Rd through Gothic. Park at the Gothic campground and ride northwest on FS317 for a few miles. At Schofield Pass, the 401 trail climbs onto the shoulder of Mount Bellview.

The trail description above is basically lame, so I'll see if I can't improve it. First, at least half is single track, not road, and that is if you ride it as a loop. It's entirely rideable as an out-and-back, although you will meet many a rider coming downhill, so the loop is somewhat better. At any rate, it is up, up and away to the top of the hill and when it finally flattens out, look to the right for the singletrack. As I remember this part, it was pretty steep going up here, and hard to ride for me then, but it was over soon enough and the real magic of this trail begins. From here on it rolls along at high altitude, cresting above timberline I recall before descending through one of the most beautiful meadows of alpine flowers Colorado has to offer. The Lupines here can literally be three fe

I rode this trail in the late summer of 1999 with a beautiful young woman whom I'd only met two days prior. We rode it like it was meant to be ridden, starting in C.B. and finishing in C.B. ... The beauty of that day, that moment, made me feel as if I could die happy knowing that I had ridden quite possibly the most beautiful singletrack anywhere with one of the most enchanting people I will ever have the pleasure of falling hoplessly in love with...Go to C.B., sometimes even the most impossible dreams come true.....
