Trail Description:
Start at Casey State Park or drive up Takilma Drive and leave from parking lot at the top of the dam. Starting here cuts your ride by 1.6 miles. The trail follows the North Shore of the lake for 18.3 miles. It is a lot of small up and down hills with 90 degree corners that sneak up on you really fast. Once you leave the singletrack, follow Lewis Road to Hwy. 62, turn right across Payton Bridge, and follow the Hwy. for about a mile. Then you will ride the paved trail inside of Stewart State Park. This will take you through the park, passed the Marina, and back once again to singletrack. Follow this down and around to the dam parking lot, or follow the left trail back to Casey State Park, and beware of the "CAUTION: STAIRS" sign. If your an advanced rider, the stairs can be overcome. Otherwise, please walk your bike to the bottom.(Stewart St. Park is not a bad place to camp either, and there are more trails too)
How to get there:
Drive Hwy. 62 out of Medford towards Crater Lake. You should pass through Shady Cove. once through here you are just 15 to 20 minutes away. If you are coming south from Grants Pass on I-5, take the Gold Hill exit #40, go through town onto Hwy. 234. This will take you directly to Hwy. 62. When you reach here, it puts you half-way between Eagle Point and Shady Cove. Take a left and follow Hwy. 62 to Casey St. Park.
Additional Notes:
This trail is also frequently used for Horseback riding, so watch out for landmines!!

Trail no longer goes over the dam from Casey since
9/11. The best way to ride this trail is to ride it
counter-clockwise around the lake starting at
Stewart day-use area: ride through Stewart, over
Peyton bridge, left on Lewis Rd, turn onto Lewis Rd
trailhead. Trail will take you out to the dam and
back around to Stewart. 3-4 hr ride.

Try the backside trail. Drive along Hwy 62 across the lake. Take the first left. Follow the rode to the "last trail head" parking at the top of the hill on the left. Ride down the gravel road then follow the signs. Locals only. Ssshhhh.

The stairs are no longer there, they bypassed them by going over the area with a new trail. I road this trail yesterday and from the top of the dam around it was only 18 miles, not 24.
