Trail Description:
major trail system only a half hour from Ashland/Talent. The Wagner Creek water shed is not protected like the ashland watershed and the area with the trails is pristine. As the trails are not used so much they get a little overgrown, but some locals have done some work to help out. The trails are tight and twisty. you get a lot of miles for your vertical feet and there is some built stuff, nothing extreme, just some little jumps and bridges over creeks (the gaps in the bridges is to keep the motos out. The trails - once you find it just go down and stay on the main trail. lots of switch backs and some jumps and bridges and it is tight! not too rocky though. after about 20-30 min you will hit a road. if you ride up the road it will take you back to the cattleguard area with the Y. or you can cross and go down more. the trails are signed (stump trail, jesse trail etc. but by who i don't know) if you go down there are more trails that split off just go down and you won't get lost. after about 30 mins of decending you hit another road which is 2250 you can just ride up this back to the cattle guard and Y. or from here you can cross the road and follow the trail even more along the creek. i'm not sure how long it goes but the concept is the same. it comes out to a road and you can ride back up to your car. the trails are way different than Ashland which make them fun.
How to get there:
From Hwy 99 in Talent take Rapp Rd to Wagner Creek road. Take Wagner Creek road about 5-7 miles until it turns to dirt. Drive another 5-7 miles staying on the main road (NFD 22) until you cross a yellow cattle guard (the only one) and reach a fork in the road. NFD 2250 goes right towards Applegate and NFD 22 goes left towards Wagner Butte and Mt. Ashland. You will want to head left at the fork and head towards the Wagner butte trailhead about 2-3 mile up. pass the wagner butte trailhead parking lot and proceed another 1/4 mile. at a sharp left turn in the road the trail begins on the right side down the slope across from a wooden drainage grate. look close! and llok for the wooden grate
Additional Notes:
Park at the Wagner trailhead, and shuttle if you like, otherwise you are in for a climb on a loose g
