Trail was ridden on Oct 6, 2007. Trail maintenance has started on this trail--from the bottom up; and likely won't be completed until mid to late summer '08. The top half is still riddled with denser scrub and one pretty severe hike-a-bike through blown down, burned up trees. Due to the lack of a bridge on the creek crossing, be aware of water levels due to snowmelt before giving it a go.

This trail will be excellent - when it is maintained again. Following the Pot Peak fire 2 years ago, the trail has not been maintained (presumably to allow it time to heal) and is littered with trees that require hike-a-bike. The scrub is dense and hasn't been trimmed back in a long time. Fingers crossed it is cleaned up soon - until then, the recommendation is to skip this one and let the terrain heal after the fire.

Just one of many epic rides in this motorcycle-legal area...get the greentrails maps and find opportunities to access areas like Devils Backbone, Middle Tommy, Two Little Lakes, upper and lower Mad River, Klone Peak, Alder trail, etc., etc. The season is short, due to the altitude (early snow and slow melting = soft ground). The lower trails are mighty dusty, but most of the high stuff is smooth and sweet.

The uphill and especially the final pitch are worth it for the views and the downhill! Not for the faint of heart if you fear heights. Great Ride!
