Trail Description:
Kruger unit is part of the Richard Doerer state hardwood forest. Most trails are single track with a good amount of climbing. Many of the hills have baby head size rocks on them, some partially buried some above ground. Great views of the Zumbro River valley below.
How to get there:
Take Highway 61 from Wabasha, MN towards Winona, MN (South). Just before Kellog, MN take a right on the old narrow gauge road and follow for approximately 3 miles to the rifle range. Take a right, drive past the rifle range and the trail head is just ahead
Additional Notes:
Great wild life, Turkey, deer, pheasants

This ride has everything I like: adventure, challenge, remoteness, beautiful views, lack of people, and a campground literally at the base of the trails. Wear a helmet! I could envision some potential nasty crashes here. This trail system is awesome, but difficult and overgrown.

This is one of my favorite bike location secrets. I usually camp at the campground and then ride by day.
If you like crowds, read Sara's comments, if you like to explore rarely touched areas by bike, follow Carl's.
The trails can be overgrown at times, but it sure adds to the fun. It is a physically challenging trail. There is one big, long rocky hill that I have to walk most of when I go, and one big spooky decent. It is a great remote ride!
If you go, make sure you ride out to the lookout, it is a beautiful view over the valley.
One note: there is a 'gun range' nearby, so don't be alarmed the the occasional blast when you near this area. Also, NEVER EVER ride here during deer hunting season as it is very very popular among hunters!

Sara and Carl are both right. There are swarms of
mosquitos, the trail is overgrown, and the park is
usually empty.
There are no park access fees.

Rode these trails last weekend and found they were in good condition. The DNR keeps them mowed for the most part. The campground if great and doesn't seem to get used much so you may have the whole place to yourself.
