Trail Description:
Palmer Park has lots of singletrack. The greatest aspect of the trail are the varied types of terrain. Some areas are relatively flat paths between trees, but these are broken up by 6-12 inch high obstacles. The trail has its fair share of climbs, but they are followed by steep, rocky downhill. This trail will require the ability to do a good wheelie. In fact, depending on which way you run it, it may be impassable for most beginers. So, be prepared to walk. The great thing about it, is that like much of Colorado, sandstone is quite abundant, most of the trail is composed of it. This makes for superb riding. Be forewarned: sections of the trail(on both the north and eastern sections of trail) are narrow, steep and technical. The line you take down these sections is very critical. You may have to go through it a few times to spot these. In other words, you will love it. It is rated as a blue trail (intermidiate, like skiing), but rain makes it harder every year.
How to get there:
If you live in town, it is in Palmer Park (off of Maizeland and Academy). There are many trails in the park so, be careful to read the maps. If you are getting off of I-25, head down Academy until you hit Maizeland, it will be on the left side ( in you go South) of Academy, so make a right onto Maizeland. The park has lots of expert trails to,
so unless you like the steep and deep, I would stick to the blues and/or the greens. You will have to take the Green Crest trail to get to it from this corner of the park.
Additional Notes:
Watch out for equestrians.

This Park is mostly steep downhill and moderate-to- steep uphill. You will need to hike-a-bike up some short steep climbs, but the downhill is well worth it. I recommend riding in the morning because Colorado Springs has been recieving alot of afternoon thunderstorms lately. Have fun!
