Site of Pan-American mountain bike race in 1999. Birch Ski area has long grinding climbs with very steep technical switchbacks and dropoffs.

The upper single tracks areas are varied with fast winding singletrack to mountain goat switchbacks. For the speed freaks the road and hills down

into the valley are pretty fast and mostly smooth. Birch proves mountain biking on the prairies isn't just an oxymoron.

How to get there:
Southwest of Winnipeg on highway #2 for approx 90min. Turn left at large blue sign for

Birch Ski Area about 1km west of Roseisle Manitoba. Follow gravel road and turn right at

the base of the hill and follow to the parking areas 1)chalet 2)valley.

Additional Notes:
It's advisable to check with the Manitoba Cyclling Association to make its open.

I'd just like to post this to counteract the effects of the earlier 1 ratings. This trail is open to MCA Members ($35/year) who purchase a Birch Pass ($25/year).

Birch Ski Area is open to skiers and riders. The trail system is next to none in Manitoba in both disciplines. Google Birch Ski Area ;)

It is unfortunate to here that the land has been closed. It sounds like it would be a good ride. Anyone know the owners I would like to talk to them. Mountain Biking Connections - Calgary

This area has been closed to riders and skiers. The land is privately owned and the owners have made this land unavailable. See the www.mca.mb.ca website for details.(Manitoba Cycling Association)

It's a good course really hard uphill climbs in some spots... Downside is that there is usally a lot of mud and water on the Couse but like the Sunlight comercial says..."Go Ahead Get Dirty"
