Trail Description:
This is like time travel. The town of West Point has more than it's share of history. Lots of famaliar historical references and all the interesting buildings have roadside plaques with interesting reading and "I didn't know that's". Across highway 31W/60 is Fort Duffield Park with the mountainbike trails. There are good maps and pamphlets at the parking in the park, which will help plan your route. The climb (paved) up to where the main gates used to be is 300 feet of "no pain, no gain". Don't underestimate the size of this fort, it's the largest civil war fort in Kentucky. The views of the town and the Ohio river will distract you. Once on the trails behind the fort, distractions are not an option, as you will have to remain focused. These are tight, fast and technical, easy to get a souvenir from that tree that stepped out on the trail. Trails are 99% under forest canopy, signage is very subtle, some trail elements unique to this park.

How to get there:
Just head to where the Salt river empties into the Ohio river. Head south from Louisville on 31W/60, over the bridge on the Salt river, 100 yds to traffic lights, stop at gas station (they got munchies there), park is to the east, town to the west.

Additional Notes:
You'll be right next door to Fort Knox.

Hmm... Well, I have been riding "the duff" for many years now. By far, this is the best mtb park in the Louisville area. Best of all, the park is only 20 minutes outside Louisville. When most riders come to the park, they have no idea where to begin their journey. There is a trail entrance at the end of the parking lot, which is usually a good place to begin. If you decide to begin here, please ride at your own risk and be prepared to see some riders shredding down the trail past you. Another good place to start is the red trail. It is a b!tch to climb, but the more you climb the red trail to the top, the easier it becomes. Once up at the fort, there are many trails to choose from. You can either ride the red trail back down(which is an adrenaline rush), or opt for the blue trail. If the blue trail is your choice, watch out for some of the jumps. Not all the jumps are intimidating. However, there is a creek crossing at the bottom of that trail which scares even the most seasoned rid

This trail has a great variety from technical cross country to a great downhill. The downhill is smooth and fast and jumps are a lot of fun. Diamond Dave and Bruce Montana are locals who did a great job with the trails and cool guys to talk to. If you get a chance definitely make an effort to check it out.

The first visit is kinda confusing because you are not sure the right place to enter. it is a lot of steep steep climbs but the down hills are awesome. if you have ridden cherokee and got bored this is a good place. it is very technical. also talk to the people there they are all friendly and help direct you to a place were the trails will fit your style. btw the rams are awesome!!

Great place. Some tough climbs. but all good on the way down. Trails were in good condtion for not being worked on much during the winter. Trail work has resumed for this summer. We talked to one of the guys that help build the trails there, he said to look for some new features by mid may. He was wanting to move some jumps for a better flow, add some more, and possibly add a wallride in somewhere. Check this place out. I didn't get to ride the whole place, but what I did ride was well worth the trip.

Technical long uphills, fun tricky obstacles, super fast downhills. This trail system has it all. It has a high concentration of every part of this sport in a small area. The downhills get ballsier every time I go.

Steep climbs and fast, technical descents with a few interesting obstacles. I ride it weekly and have never seen another biker on the trails. What more could you ask for...
